It’s important to keep in mind Instagram is a newer social media site; therefore, it’s not completely surprising to see how well it’s performing. However, what is significant to note: Instagram is achieving three times the engagement per post when compared to Facebook.

Big brands have taken note of this rise in Instagram marketing and have gotten on board with the social medium. So how can you increase your efforts on the visual site? Simply Measured shared some interesting insights for what’s working well with big brands.

How To Capitalize On Instagram Marketing

1. Brief copy is popular. The average caption is 138 characters long.
2. Using @mentions helps big time. On average, posts that entail another user’s handle or @mention in the caption get 56% more engagement. But only 36% of brand posts involve at least one @mention.
3. Use hashtags, but don’t go overboard. Posts with at least a single hashtag average 12.6% more engagement.
4. Location, location, location! While just 5% of Instagram posts tag a location, the ones that do use this feature get 79% more engagement.

It’s also important to keep in mind, Instagram posts may take a bit longer to catch on. It could take a good post six hours to receive likes and comments. However, it could take a great post as long as 13 hours to see significant results after posting.

Currently, Instagram marketing is led by the media industry, apparel, home furnishings and automotive industry. These industries lead with the number of active brands and average posts per month.

It’s no secret people connect more quickly and easily to visual content which is why Instagram is seeing such a surge at the moment.  We hope you’ll utilize our Instagram marketing tips to enhance your current strategy!
